Training in Strategic Approach to Designing Interventions in Conflict & Post Conflict Contexts ; 7th to 11th April 2025, Nairobi, Kenya & Online
April 7 @ 8:00 am - April 11 @ 5:00 pm UTC+3
This training is ideal for practitioners who conceptualize and design programmes/projects in conflict and post conflict areas in Africa. It is also ideal for people who would want to integrate peacebuilding programming in their work.
Rationale
Designing interventions in conflict situations must be based on very clear thinking and understanding about what the specific intervention is intended to achieve towards realizing social stability. Training on conflict transformation is one strategic approach to achieving sustainable peace and social stability.
Other strategies in addition may also be adopted to contribute to the same goal. In other words, achieving social stability in a conflict situation is usually the result of coordinated approach by many actors often after a long period of time. Therefore, for an intervention to achieve intended results it must be based on a thorough understanding of prevailing conditions of factors aggravating the situation and possible entry points to redressing the situation.
Training on conflict transformation should be conceptualized within a strategy setting framework so that participants can link what they learn to how it might be applied in a social situation so as to achieve positive social change. From this perspective, any intervention requires critical thinking about:
- What you wish to influence
- How you wish to go about it
- The change you wish to see at the end of the intervention
This five-day training session will entail designing a strategy setting framework for intervention
